We tutor school-aged kids, Kindergarten through Grade 12. Some families come to us with a formal ADHD diagnosis. Many come while still on an assessment waitlist, or with no plans to pursue one. You do not need a diagnosis, an assessment or a referral to start. If your child also has dyslexia, dyscalculia or anxiety alongside ADHD, that is normal here, not an exception.

Who Your Child Will Work With

Every Edify tutor has training at an accredited Canadian institution in education or a mental health related field, Canadian classroom experience, at least three years working with neurodivergent kids, checked references, and a clear criminal record check. Every tutor completes Edify's neuroaffirmative training before their first match, and continues one-to-one coaching with Edify as their students' needs change.

Most Edify tutors hold a second professional designation alongside teaching. Social workers, resource teachers, inclusion support workers, education assistants, early childhood educators and clinical counsellors. It means the person supporting your child's math also understands regulation, anxiety, and what an IEP actually requires.

They treat behaviour as a motivation problem. Avoidance, shutdowns, frustration, or refusal may be labelled as laziness or unwillingness to learn.

What is ADHD?
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental difference which is a normal part of neurodiversity in our human experience. There are many ways to interpret these differences. Many recorded scientific sources refer to ADHD in reference to the DSM-V Manual which uses a deficit model to describe traits that could be interfering with daily life if not supported. Other ways to describe ADHD are through the Holistic model which can be seen in the resources page.
Do you offer in-person tutoring ?
We are online by design. Matching matters more than proximity for kids who learn differently, and going online means your child gets the best-fit tutor in BC & Canada, not always the closest one. Sessions are live and one-to-one, with movement breaks and hands-on materials built in.
Does my child need an ADHD diagnosis to start?
No. We work with kids who are diagnosed, waitlisted for assessment, or have no diagnosis at all. If ADHD-style support fits how your child learns, that is enough.
Does online tutoring actually work for kids with ADHD?
Yes, when sessions are built for ADHD. Our tutors run short focused blocks with breaks every 10 to 15 minutes, use hands-on and interactive materials, and follow your child's interests. Cameras are encouraged but never a battle.
Do I have adult ADHD?
There are so many parents who are still figuring things out and need more support by getting an official diagnosis.

It costs a substantial amount to get an official diagnosis, and things are continuing to advance in certain proovinces, states and countries. There are many types of support once you've gotten a diagnosis,  ADHD coaches out there; apps, support groups, books, resources, however, if you are interested, contact us and we can provide you some more in depth tools!
What qualifications do Edify tutors have?
Edify tutors are specially trained and experienced in working with neurodivergent children, utilizing tailored teaching techniques depending on your child’s needs to support and nurture their potential. They have years and experiences and certifications including training at accredited Canadian institutions in Education or a Mental Health Related field, Classroom experience in Canada, 3 years of experience working with kids like ours, and vetted references. How does personalized tutoring benefit my child?
We know how your child learns best. Our tutors have classroom experience, and education and have passed the Edify approval process. Part of getting approved as an Edify tutor includes being neuro-affirmative. Many educators are still learning about the strengths that each child has. At Edify, we take the time to find the best match so you don't have to. What you will find is that your children are happy to learn with their Edify match. They will love learning in less than 90 days! Also, we know that over time, your child will have the confidence to learn differently and see their progress academically. Their confidence will grow and their grades will improve.

At Edify, we customize our one-on-one tutoring plans to meet the unique strengths and needs of neurodivergent children, promoting confidence and a love for learning. Personalized tutoring ensures that your child receives individualized attention, boosting their self-esteem, academic performance, and socio-emotional well-being.
How long and how often are sessions?
Sessions run 45 to 60 minutes, once a week, online. Length depends on your child. Some kids do their best work in a focused 45 minutes and others settle in and need the full hour.
How is my child paired with a tutor, and how can they best adjust to lessons?
We match tutors with students based on the tutor’s strengths, scheduled availability, and the student’s specific learning needs, creating the best possible learning environment.


After matching, we will send you an email about who your tutor is, details about Edify mentorship, any books or materials we can order for you, and to sign up for the 3rd party scheduling app (TutorBird). The first meeting you have with your tutor will be a Meet & Greet, which will allow us to get to know your child's preferences, behaviors, and interests. If this initial meeting goes well, you will continue to have tutoring sessions weekly. Otherwise, if you don’t believe you and your child are a good fit with the tutor, you also have the option to request a new match.
How are tutoring sessions structured at Edify?

Our one-on-one sessions are customized to fit your child's learning style and pace, ensuring that each lesson is engaging, meaningful, and productive.

You will receive a weekly reminder for each session by text (SMS) and/or email. Most of our sessions are 45-60 minutes long depending on the frequency of your chosen plans.

  • Students are encouraged to take notes by hand if possible. If they are not, let us know if we can get an AI notetaker app to help with taking notes and memory recall.
  • Students might have physical notebooks, incentives like fidget spinners or other approved materials, lego, 3D materials, or other motivational learning materials to help your child love learning
  • Students might receive reminders, exercises, and check ins to maintain learning
  • Students may have combined apps to help have a valuable curation of learning material to increase learning capabilities - for example, there may be a dyslexia app used during our session
  • Tutors may present SEL videos from our approved lesson plan list that help with topics such as perfectionism, learning math, doing difficult things, being bullied, managing stress and emotions
  • Students might be encouraged to keep the camera on if possible
  • Students might be asked to take physical breaks after 10-15 minutes
  • Students may be asked to have bio breaks before sessions
  • Students might be shown advocacy language such as , " I need a break," or "I'm feeling anxious right now - can we do this later?" or "I'm feeling overwhelmed, can we break this into simpler steps?"
  • Families can gain access to videos online of recorded sessions to review
  • Notes are provided and can be accessed 24/7
What kind of progress can I expect to see in my child?
Parents often observe significant improvements in their child’s confidence, enthusiasm for learning, problem-solving skills, and overall academic performance and for many as little as 3 months. We recommend working with an Edify approved tutor match for 3 months to give a full opportunity to see growth.
How much does it cost?
Tutoring starts at $260 per month for weekly one-to-one online sessions, which works out to about $65 per session. There is a one-time $25 registration fee. Your consultation is free and there is no obligation to book.
What if my child doesn't connect with their tutor?
Tell us and we will rematch your child with a different tutor, free, any time within your first three months. Your first session is a Meet and Greet for exactly this reason: fit comes before academics.
My child refuses to let us help with homework. Will they really work with a tutor?
Usually, yes. A tutor arrives without the homework history you and your child have built up. Sessions start with connection and your child's interests, not a worksheet, and that changes the dynamic fast.
